SOCCERade is a hydrating low sugar sports drink specifically branded for the players and supporters of the global Soccer/Football market. SOCCERade also delivers a healthy option for generic sports and a third of the sugar than current market leaders.

In 2007 the SOCCERade drinks were developed powered by Smart Energy to provide a sports drink to meet the growing demand for less sugar content and healthier product alternatives.

Olympic Marathon Champion Samuel Wanjiru used Leppin Smart Energy for his win in Beijing 2008. In 2008, SOCCERade commenced market testing in the UK. In 2011 SOCCERade officially launched to the UK market.

I was tasked to rebrand the SOCCERade product to better appeal to the UK market and compete with market leaders such as Lucozade, Powerade and Gatorade. Since the rebrand SOCCERade achieved great partnerships with both the professional and semi-professional levels clubs and also the likes of the FA and Umbro. The rebrand later became the world wide brand.

SOCCERade icons to represent each element of what the brand offers. Also used as tokens on the back of the bottles as a club, Umbro and FA Initiative.


Visual Design

The SOCCERade dividing line inspired by the half time dividing line on the football pitch which represents the game of two halfs. The line was designed an angle to provide a clear clean visual style.

Our approach allowed us to provide a clear differentiation from our competitors and helped build a solid and recognisable visual style for further use in marketing materials and communications.
